After the treatment

Going home

Do not go home unaccompanied. If you are treated under general anesthesia, it is better not to drive a car or to work with dangerous machines during the first 12 hours. Because of the possible late effects of the medication, we advise you not to take important decisions during the next 24 hours.

At home

The pregnancy symptoms usually disappear after 4-14 days Immediately after the surgical treatment there will be some loss of blood. After the 3rd day the loss of blood may increase and usually lasts a week. Some women may have some loss of blood till the first menstruation after the treatment. Sometimes the loss of blood is accompanied by 1 or 2 days of cramps and the loss of blood clots. Do not use tampons until the next menstrual period. This will occur about 4-5 weeks after the treatment. Avoid swimming, hot baths and sex as long as there is loss of blood. You make take paracetamol.

Follow-up

A follow-up appointment 3 weeks after the abortion is required in the clinic or with the referring practitioner. The pregnancy hormones need 3 weeks to leave your body.
